I'd definately say 2 DQ finishers = heel.
I always considered both tweeners in the Gatekeeper - Valour feud... I always thought Valour's a little too psycho to be a straight face.
I definately have always thought of Kill Prey as an 'honorable heel' so a turn would be easy.

I'm not getting why people would think he would be a face. He is a heel. Gatekeeper and arguably Dead Ringer were also heels, but not as straight up as Daimyo. Glad you asked... Here is why... No.1) Daimyo has two DQ finishers. No.2) Gatekeeper and Dead Ringer have nothing to do with this. Sure, WE know...but the way the story is written, no one else does. No.3) Kill Prey has never really been your standard heel...if anything he has only been a heel by association and based on the guys he feuded with (Wolf, Swarm etc...) He has always been fiercely honorable...and as early as 2121 he was being held back and held down on Eugenics, just ready to break away at any moment... he has this GREAT card...this GREAT story and in 2122 he just gets cast off by Eugenics and does nothing about it? That's not Kill Prey. That makes no sense. Kill Prey wouldn't blow it off by saying "eh...they haven't asked me..." he would have taken the opportunity to hunt the biggest and greatest Ani-Man of all time, Monolith... from there he could have been blind-sided by Daimyo and been side tracked...but the face turn would be there...hell the way it was written screams Daimyo is the heel and Kill Prey is the face. That's why us people think Kill Prey is and should be the face.

Oh I just realized I might have mis-read this. We think Daimyo is the heel because the way the book is written. He has (face +5) next to his profile and Kill Prey has a (heel -5) nex to his... so is it just an editing mishap? That would make more sense.

Agreed , top to bottom . But he's still not one to play to the crowd , he does his buisness and goes home.

I was completely in agreement with you, and was wondering who wasn't, now I see its the book. I think that is an editting oversight, or atleast not completely thinking it through. Tom used alot of ratings from last year in developing the ratings for this year, and probably should have moved those more. One of those little things that did slip by in my very short editting time. I did catch a few doozies though.

Mystery solved...so are we all in agreement Kill Prey finally made his long awaited face turn? If so........strong! I've been waiting YEARS for this!

Am I the only one who noticed this... Daimyo grabs Shann-Ra by the hair, removes the lower part of his maks and lays a kiss on her!Daimyo: There's a kiss from a real man! umm...Tom wrote that Kill Prey and Shann-Ra were brother and sister like 3 sets ago... so...that's find of gross. I was a little disturbed by that implication also. Perhaps Daimyo is merely confused? Or perhaps he's discussing another as yet unnamed person when discussing kisses from real men? That's all I've got. Sounds like Swarm's right about the whole heel/face dynamic in this feud though. Edit: That's what I get for posting before I read the whole thread. Needless to say, yes Swarm is right.

The question someone SHOULD have asked at G-Con is.... will Bounty Hunter unmask next year?

How do we know that Diamyo is not playing mind games with Kill Prey? Nothing would tick a guy off faster then implying that he sleeps with his sister. If i had a sister, that would tick me off!

I'm with Swarm. Kill Prey is the face and Daimyo is the heel in this feud. In a way, this was one of my favorite stories of the new year because little did we know that it was developing under our noses for two years. I love that. If you haven't compared the cards of Daimyo, Dead Ringer, and the Gatekeeper side by side yet, you should. Most of the move names and defenses are different, albeit of equal effectiveness. Let's go to the tale of the tape:
Daimyo: 6'4", 289 lbs Dead Ringer: 6'4", 300 lbs Gatekeeper: 6'4", 289 lbs
Ropes, Turnbuckle, Ring, Deathjump Daimyo: B, A, A, C Dead Ringer: B, B, A, C Gatekeeper: B, A, A, C
AG and PW Daimyo: 0, -1 Dead Ringer: +1, -2 Gatekeeper: 0, -1
Daimyo and Dead Ringer also both share one move: Lvl 2 Offense, 5. DDT Stunner.
Besides having a heavy year as Dead Ringer, these guys definitely seem to be the same. I am looking forward to seeing this story unravel.

This is a cool concept. It'll be really interesting to see how it plays out...surely not a 4th character in 4 years? It's cool. Each guy is, look-wise, completely different. As long as they don't all come back as clones a la Mad Jester, it'll be interesting To be honest, I didn't make the connection with "kissed by a real man" being a reference to Kill Prey. Although now that you guys call it into question, perhaps it was a slam on the sister/brother to rile them up.

To the Dude Love/Cactus Jack point....you wonder if this will result in a guy who has a game mechanic that determines which persona he appears as.

So if we go under the premise that Dead Ringer, Gatekeeper and Daimyo are in fact the same guy.....is there anything linking the three guys he has targeted? First Valour, then Tanck, then Kill Prey. Are they just going to be semi-random feuds for this guy, or is there something that Valour, Tanck and Kill Prey all have in common that can neatly tie the story together?
Or is there someone behind this all who does have a connection with the three? Was just combing through the 3 manuals involved to look for clues.

I -do- hope it somehow winds up three separate entities....I really liked The Gatekeeper....I also dug Dead Ringer quite a bit....Daimyo's going to take some growing on me....but the three could combine to make a rather neat little stable. The medieval-esque warrior, the samurai and the....whatever Dead Ringer can be likened to

No, it's the same guy. Tom said so at GalactiCon.

And forgot Tom himself said it. So I guess back to my original question about if there's a connection to the three 'victims'
