Hey all,
I got a call from Kevin Butcher (a.k.a. Wildcat) today from his hospital bed. He told me to spread the word. He asked his son Matt to do it but I guess he told Kevin that he hadn't done it yet, so the D-town crew was his next choice (Well, I was the only one he had a phone number for at the time).
About 4 weeks ago, Kevin was very sick - vomitng, the whole 9 yards. He dehydrates fast and his kidneys shut down.
After an emergency examination, the doctors found a few blood clots in his right leg. The doctors said he was "on death's door" when he got there and that if he had waited much longer, he wouldn't have made it.
So, they've done about 4 surgeries on him, they had to do some skin graphs and 3/4 of his right big toe was amputated.
Kevin wants to let everyone know he is on the mend and hopes to be out of the hospital by the end of this week. He'll be on crutches for awhile and be doing some physical therapy.

Really sucks to hear that. My uncle suffered blood clot damage and it was a terrible ordeal for him. I hope everything goes well and Kevin is out and rolling the dice real soon.

Wow, Neily just pm'd me and told me about this. I've known Kevin for a few years from Galacticon. He is a really good guy and I had a lot of fun hanging out with him and his son(galacticon '06). I hope he has a speedy recovery and hopefully we'll be hearing from him very soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Butcher family.

Damn. I knew something wasn't right because I hadn't seen Kevin on here in a few weeks. I was bummed because there were no updates for his fed, which had been one of the best reads on this board on the internet over the last couple months.
Then, to hear how close he came to never signing on these boards again, it just puts everything in perspective.
I am very glad to hear that Kev is doing better, godspeed my friend and my thoughts and prayers are with you during all this.

Wow, thats crazy. I just thought Kevin was in the process of moving and just wasn't able to get on. I wish you the best of luck in recovery, and I hope we see you in Jamestown and on the boards again.

I have a get well present in mind for Kevin, but he'll have to wait a couple months for it...
At any rate, if you or someone in your family is reading, hang in there, bro. We're thinking about you.
