Flaws and all, I don't think the current administration is anywhere near the worst of all time. I would say with certainty that the Carter administration was far, far worse. Frankly, if I had the energy and time, I'd make a case for the GW presidency still being more effective and positive than the Clinton presidency, because I firmly believe that.
Interesting read in that link, Mark. It's always good to have the WHOLE perspective throughout the course of U.S. presidency when rating current ones.

Yeah I gotta agree with Arctus. Rahl has a history with conspiracy theories and I admire his fire but I think he's way off with this one.
Just my opinion.

Thats exactly the problem.
Something like the Patriot act should of been voted on by the people. Remember, it's for the people by the people. Those are OUR rights they are taking away. We should of at least had some say in the matter through voting.
Ridiculous.

They didn't put it to public vote because the public would have voted it down.
The public could have responded at the following general election by not re-electing those who voted yes for the Act but most were re-elected.
It is because the vast majority of the populace is not eductated about what liberties the Patriot Act gives the government. Further, most do not care as long as they do not see those liberties being abused on them.

They didn't put it to public vote because the public would have voted it down. Not so sure about that, if we'd voted on it at the same time as Congress did. War fever makes people do all kinds of things that, if they sit down and think about the ramifications of it, they might not otherwise do. Then again, they might decide to do it, after all. But I agree it should have been handled by the people and not 100 senators and/or 435 representatives.

That's true. The day after 9/11 my mom had this gaudy Flag/Eagle/Police thingy up in her front window. She usually has remarkable taste.
