Americans actually vote fot their leader. I thought they just bought their states. I might be wrong but I just thought that's how things worked.

Not all Americans vote for their leader, just residents of a few states like Ohio and Michigan.

I got a more important website for you if you really care about the "liberty" this guy speaks of -- his voting record. www.vote-smart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=BC031929Apparently women don't have much liberty in this guy's world. Although I will give him props for his Iraq votes. But, sorry, that's a no from me.

I don't agree with him on that at all, but as far as candidates go he votes much like I would on most other things. Rahl

I am waiting for Jesse Ventura to announce his candidacy. He would get my vote, as he is one of the few politicians out there who makes sense to me. Everyone else is just a cookie cutter of a failed old boy network that outlived it's usefullness decades ago.
And no, I will not run for the Presidency of The United States of America. Even though I fulfill the requirements (American born citizen over the age of 35), it would take away from playing COTG and posting as much as I'd like to.

Well Mr. Jimmyface if YOU won't live up to your civic duty and run then I'll have to. In ten years, when I'm old enough.
And I'll win too. Wanna know why? BECAUSE I'VE GOT MAD MIC SKILLZ.

I would never run for office because I'd tell the truth...soapbox time...make people get off government aid when its obvivous they dont need it...shrink the government...repeal the income tax abolish social security...then wake up from my utopia dream because no matter whois in office it wont happen

It's the very pro-life stance I couldn't vote for. I'm not a strict down-the-line liberal, but I'm probably about 70-30 on most issues. There are dealbreakers, though. That's one of them for me. Ron Paul sounds like what Republicans are supposed to sound like. Small-government, let the free marketplace of ideas work everything out and the cream will rise to the top. I don't happen to agree with that. Neither government nor the private sector should have more say over anyone's life than the other. There are certain things the government just does better. The military, even with all its problems (and I know because my aunt is a general in the Air Force), would be a colossal cluster-you-know-what left to competitors. JMO.

I'd first like to thank Mark for the voting record link he put up. If you are still interested in Ron Paul here is his myspace. If you check out his blog he will tell you where he stands on a ton of issues. www.myspace.com/congressmanronpaul And thank you to all who are actually concered about their country including Mark Ashby, be it for or against what I'm putting up. Hey Rahl,
How about a thread for "Our Next Vice President?"
Won't happen, but it's fun to speculate. I read a funny idea about how George W could appoint Joe Lieberman as Vice President should Richard Cheney step down. The Connecticut governor (a Republican) would replace Lieberman with a Republican senator. And with the other Connecticut senator ill and not voting, it would give control of the senate back to the Republicans.
Crafty.
EDIT: Then again, Lieberman would still hold the tie-breaking vote in the Senate, so whoever thought of that idea might have to rework the math.
