I always thought "Elder" wasn't as bad as people made it out to be but it was made by KISS and a concept album of KISS is the equivalent of Larry THe Cable Guy receiving a college degree in Physics!!! I cant help but to love that album, KISS is my all time fave rock band...it was just The Elder was so different from everything else they had done and have done...there are some really great songs on that album, The Oath, World without Heroes, Dark Light, Under the Rose, forget it.. I love every damn song on the album, even the somewhat annoying "I" **** yeah! Elder rocks. I'm not even kidding, it's in the cd player in my car as I type this. I was seriously going to post in the aCe forum about how I am reminded of Aspin Northstar every time I hear "Just A Boy" and the similarities of some of the themes in aCe and "Elder". But on to the topic at hand: The Doors- every single album they ever made, but go ahead and put "The Doors" and "LA Woman" at the top. NIN- Pretty Hate Machine Kiss- Destroyer Guns N Roses- Appetite For Destruction Johnny Cash- The American Recordings vol. 2 The Wrestling Album- I have great memories of that record from my childhood. And I'm still entertained by the subversive "For Everybody" where Piper slurred the first word that clearly wasn't "for" to give the song a whole different meaning. And how about "Piledriver"? You know, sometimes love does feel just like a piledriver! .

Bruce Springsteen- Darkness on the Edge of Town I love "Badlands" off of this album. But I may be the only person on this board who has seen and heard the Jumpin Jim Brunzell picture disc (that's a record album with a picture on it for you kids out there) of "Matlands" sung to the tune of Bruce's "Badlands" and done with full permission of "The Boss" who, as it turns out, is a friend of Jumpin Jim.

Steelthunder is right about Creatures Of The Night...it was the best thing they ever did. KISS is my all time favorite band. My favorite albums are 1. Creatures Of The Night 2. Hotter Than hell 3. Paul Stanley ( solo album) 4. The Elder 5. Lick It Up Non KISS albums would be...in no particular order Y & T - Contagious Blue Murder- Blue Murder House Of Lords- House Of Lords The Tea Party- Transmission Yngwie Malmsteen - Eclipse Queensryche _ Operation Mindcrime Van Halen- 1984 Led Zeppelin- IV ( which isnt it's title...it was actually untitled!!!) ....I could go on!!!

Peter's is the only one I didn't care for. Gene's is pretty varied in style . He ends with "When You Wish Upon A Star", which probably really confused a lot of KISS fans at that time. His song selection on his newest CD "***hole" is that way, too.

Ace's vocals didn't bother me too bad. His speaking voice sounds like Curly from the Three Stooges, so I guess it was better than that anyway. I'll definitely be checking out Paul's new album.

I have fairly esoteric tastes when it comes to music, but I'd have to say...
1) Brave by Marillion (the best frickin' rock band on the planet that nobody outside of the UK and Holland seems to know much about) 2) The Golden Age of Wireless by Thomas Dolby (the one with "She Blinded Me with Science" on it -- every song on this album is cool to me, and probably no one else) 3) Poland by Tangerine Dream (a double live album with four 20-minute or so electronic pieces that is easy to both get lost in and groove to) 4) Achtung Baby by U2 (got me through a fairly difficult stretch in my life) 5) Violator by Depeche Mode (again, every song's cool)
I could've picked Marillion's more recent album Marbles, but Brave's just so cinematic I couldn't pass it up.
Also could've picked Rush's Power Windows, King Crimson's Discipline, Vangelis Heaven and Hell, Peter Gabriel's So, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Skinny Puppy's Vivisect VI, Pete Townshend's PsychoDerelict...
OK, I'll stop before I go too far.

These albums don't all necessarily contain my favorite songs, but they are the only six albums that I own that I can listen to straight through without wanting to skip anything: Alanis Morissette, "Jagged LIttle Pill" Meat Loaf, "Bat Out of Hell" Meat Loaf, "Bat Out of Hell II" The Presidents of the United States of America, self titled - This is my official house-cleaning CD Broceliande, "The Starlit Jewel" - It's a CD from a celtic group with many of JRR Tolkien's songs and poems put to music. Yeah, I'm a big dork. Led Zeppelin's fourth album Omen - I'm just now getting into Contemporary Christian music with my wife. There's a really good station in the area that we found. Everyone loves the music, and it's nice to have something that we're comfortable with the kids hearing and repeating. Our oldest daughter even turns her little clock radio onto it when she goes to sleep.

To be honest I want to expose my children to as much music as possible...my wife takes care of the country side of things and I basically do everything else from Metallica to Miles Davis and every little bit in between. There is only 2 types of music ...IMO Good and Bad!

Nice topic. Nice to see comments from other Kiss fans. I read on the 'net somewhere that Paul Stanley said that fans are not interested in new material from Kiss so we'll never see a new Kiss album, but yet more compilation albums because fans are only interested in existing material. I wonder who he gets his advice from? Favorite albums (no particular order): Kiss - Destroyer (what got me into the group), Alive 2, Hotter Than Hell (some unusual tunes for Kiss but I liked em all), Creatures Of the Night, Lick It up, then all the rest. I seem to like almost anything Kiss does, 'cept the studio songs they made for the Killers album. I even liked Unmasked if you can dig that . I honestly feel the best tunes Kiss made were everything from The Elders, Naked City & Sure Know Something. Everything else had 'commercial' written all over it. Blue Oyster cult - Agents Of Fortune, Fire of Unknown Origin, Revolution By Night, then the rest (I have yet to dislike anything BOC does) Others: King Diamond - The Candle, Spider's Lulabye NIN - Pretty Hate Machine, Downward Spiral Unit 187 - their self titled album Pink Floyd - Relics (all time fav) Bodycount - self titled album Alice In Chains - Facelift, Dirt (When Facelift was initially being sold, it was sold with a VHS tape of them in concert as a promotional thing- I still have that tape) Jimi Hendrix - The Ultimate Experience (compilation) The Police - Every Breath You Take (compilation) ... and a bunch of other artists from ye golden days of rock (Judas Priest, Dokken, Ratt, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue...)

This will change roughly hourly, depending on my mood... Warren Zevon - Warren Zevon and The Wind Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedos and Southern AccentsBeatles - RevolverGreen Day - American IdiotThat wraps it up Pete, you are DJ for my wedding. Some great picks here .... Warren Zevon is easily one of the most underappreciated artists of all time. One thing I noticed about him is how much respect he has in the music industry. Although he never was one of the more popular artists among the general public, he sure was amongst his peers. And you can't list Tom Petty albums and not mention "Wildflowers." Timeless stuff. His new "Highway Companion" is really, REALLY growing on me too.
