Before those damn Transformers took over the market there were Go Bots. And they ruled. But I can only remember two of them...Leader 1 and Psyclone, oe whatever his name was. Can anyone else remember any of the Go Bots?
Stupid, I know...but it's been bugging me.

I remember that I used to have some of these. But the only name I can remember is Cy-Kill.

The tank was my favorite, but I can't remember his name. And don't forget the monster, ZOD!
Take care,
Jay

dang, Go Bots came before Transformers? I had always thought that Go Bots were just the toys that parents who didn't love their kids bought for them.

I have to admit, my brother and I hated Go-Bots. They were just generic looking compared to Transformers.
But didn't, is it Hasbro that has the Transformers line, buy out the GoBots line? My nephew has a Transformer for kids and they call them Go-Bots

Transformers came out in Japan before Go-Bots, but Go-Bots came out slightly before Transformers did. I liked a few of them, but really, Transformers were far superior.

How about Robo Force? Anybody remember them? They were these cheesy knock off things that had spring-loaded arms that curled in when you pressed a button in the back. And that's about it.
And I made my parents buy them.
And I still got a scholarship several years later. We can all rise above humble beginnings, I guess.

Go Bots never ruled anything except the discount bin.
Transformers has better characters, more complex shapes and changing parts, and hella cooler name than "Go- Bots"

Yeah, and how could hate on Soundwave! He was the bomb!
And loved Devastator. That was the first ones I had. Saved that allowance for weeks to get the Constructacons!
I would kill to have those first 2 waves before the after movie wave hit!!

Loved when Cobra made him a tank. Awesome.

Go Bots were like the PWT version of Transformers... and yes, i had a lot of them!
In Japan Transformers were actually several different toy lines that got bought out and grouped together (ex: Preceptor, Megatron, Blaster and Soundwave were all in one line but All the jets came from a different line) The toys really took off over there when the animated series was developed and when it hit the states no one realized they all came from separate toy lines.
Another little tidbit for you: Did you know Battle Beasts started off in the Transformer universe? They appeared in several episodes that never apparently aired in the states. It was risky to attach them to a proven commodity so they were released as a separate toy line.

Had a ton of Battle Beasts. Loved those guys. They were always great opponents for my Muscle Things wrestling fed.
And yes I believe the Go Bots name is now part of the Transformers line because my son has several of them: very simplistic, takes about three steps to change, usually has some light up part.

Hasbro picked the name up sometime. As I don't recall who made the Go-Bots, I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro hadn't purchased or merged with the company.

Poking around the link I provided earlier indicates that Go-Bots were from Tonka.
