With all the changes that look to be going on in TNA lately, I'm interested to see what people think the promotion's remaining lifespan is. Russo could be seen as the best guy for the job, the worst guy for the job, a sign of desperation, and so on. But TNA's been "near death" since it opened, and they're still alive and kicking. Just curious as to what everyone thinks.

I say 2-5 years. They won't fold as long as they've got the Carter's financial backing. So, I say they'll stick around about 2 more years.
But, I never thought Ted Turner would let WCW fold, so you never know.

Turner had lost a lot of power by the time WCW closed. He was actually really upset about it at the time. What killed WCW was one of the execs wanted wrestling of their channels so he cancelled Nitro/Thunder which allowed McMahon to swoop in and buy it for nothing.
As far as TNA. This is the most stable they've ever been financially. They're on in tons of countries and some foreign tours, India, could make them a lot of money. I think you're looking at least 3 years with them probably going 5 years or longer. I think next year you'll see them finish just barely in the black and that'll extend their lifespan by quite a bit.
The biggest threat to them is trying to expand too fast on doing shows in other markets.
If the Carters leave you'll probably see one of the companies in Japan taking over.

TNA has been making it really hard lately to be an optomist about their situation. Even I, who once was one of the loudest pro-TNA voices on these boards have been jaded lately. And the the E picking up a bit, it doesn't look good. However you forget something very important to TNA's future......Jeff Jarrett's ego! He would bankrupt Panda before he let TNA die! Of course they would cut him loose before that happens but I don't see them catching on all that soon...... So the synic in me says 2 years, the optomist in me says 10, so I'll go with the optomist just this one last time. Big Time

It must have 1-2 years in it at least . It seems better than ever , since I have been watching it (about 2 years now) . It can't die surely . We can't just live off WWE , can we ?

Some around here can live off the proverbial WWE t*t forever. Its their mothers milk and anything else would be an abomination.

At their current pace I give them about 2 years before the money runs out and they lose their TV deal. Until this big annoncement came along TNA was on a slide into oblivion as far as I was concerned. But I also didn't give them much of a shot when they first started out and here we are ? years later and they might be getting ready to go head to head with WWE on minor network television. They still have a long, long, long way to go but they have also come a long way too.

I could live watching WWE, especially if it continues to produce the quality of shows it has been running this year. Also, there is a wealth wrestling available on DVD or the Internet.
If TNA succeeds, it would be great for the industry and great for wrestling fans. I would love it if they had a kick-ass two hour product, sans the 6-sided ring, to offer each week.
The thing is the product is has very little quality to it at this point. Other than the Styles/Daniels-LAX feud, there is very little going on in TNA that is good. I've heard several comparisons to how TNA can repeat WCW's rise, but I honestly don't see it happening, mostly due to the fact that Vince won't let it overtake him the way WCW did.
Even during WCW's prime, when it had the NWO on top and the undercard providing phenomenal in-ring action, the people at the top of the card were interesting. TNA just doesn't have that. No matter how much praise is heaped on the X Division, the top of the card just sucks the life out of the shows.
In all fairness to the X Division guys, though, they pale in comparison to WCW's lighter weight wrestlers of the late 90s. WCW had, in their respective primes, Rey Misterio, Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Billy Kidman, Psychosis, and Chavo Guerrero, just to name a few. Sabin, Dutt and Lethal, even if you inflate their potential, don't even crack that list in terms of quality.
I would like to see TNA develop into a rival for the WWE and stay in business for years, but unfortunately, that is not going to happen.

WCW had some legitimate top level guys and their mid-carders were awesome. TNA will never have this. Vince will buy them up and put them in OVW, then bring 'em up.

after the explosive diarrhea of tonights PPV, I'd like to please change my answer from 2-5 years to less than a year.
That's your announcement? Pathetic.

Are you disappointed in the announcement itself or the way in which it was delivered? both. I think it's disgusting that one company fire him to prevent an untimely death and another picks him up for the sake of hot-shotting an angle, clearly not caring about his health, family, or future. It's appalling.

Angle couldn't handle the road schedule that the WWE had, in TNA he'll get to work less, which means faaaar less wear and tear on the body.
If TNA begins to really catch on and can find that solid as hell fan support, the only way VKM is gonna be able to stop TNA is if they are on the verge of bankruptcy. VKM's best bet is to let TNA stick around and use the company as a developmental company and talent pool where he can pick and choose who he takes.

True enough Joe. As solid as the X Division is/was when AJ, Daniels and Jerry Lynn were active, it doesn't compare to the WCW cruiserweight division of yesteryear OR even New Japan's Jr. Division of today. Its good...but not WCW good. But WCW didnt' really take full advantage of the talent they had while TNA at least seems to be trying a little more even if the Jarrett glass ceiling seems to be holding some of them back.
I also hope Petey Williams gets a big 'revenge' push out of that whole laxitive episode.

Back in the old WCW days, Psicosis was by far my favorite cruiser. And I recall in a multiman match, Psicosis scored a pinfall to win the criserweight belt. At the time me and my buddy came to the comclusion that it was an accidental pinfall and he wsn't supposed to win the belt. The next week he came out and lost the belt.
Just sharing a memory.
And BTW, Ultimo Dragon is GOD. It's too bad injuries severly handicapped his career here in the states.,

what was Psicosis' finisher again?
whenever I've seen Psicosis in a singles match in WWE, I knew he wouldn't win because he's like that tag wrestler in COTG that doesn't have a finisher that automatically leads to an opponent rolling his PIN.
