I don't download, but I also have to say that if I did, I would feel obligated to pay for it. As someone who's put copyrighted music out there myself once upon a time, and who makes no money off of it in the end really, it does annoy me that some people feel entitled to it. Not that I'm gonna go Lars Ulrich on anyone...

I've downloaded a lot of music for quite a while, but these days I download almost exclusively through iTunes, so I don't need to feel bad about it anymore.
Of course, I have also found that if you rip all of your iTunes on to a disc and then let someone else download from that, I think you can actually get away with not using iTunes' 5 machines policy...
