English soccer star David Beckham's joining L.A Galaxy . What other none USA soccer players would you like to see join the USA league ? . Name your ideas ?
I wonder about Teddy Sheringham ? Real Madrid's Ronaldo ? (not Man Utd Christiano) or Zidzane ?

Don't worry Bazzy, Beckham will be back in the UK in no time. Soccer/futbol will never be "over" in America like it is in the rest of the world.
Basically, in the USA, people only like watching soccer when their 7 year old kid is playing.
This is a last ditch effort by MLS to try and save itself. Plus, Beckham is like 37 years old and gave up his captain's status in his Euro league so it's not like he's gonna be able to save the league when he himself is over the hill. (or at the least well past his prime)

Beckham is only 31 although it seems he's older. Bringing over a huge star will work in the short term. It worked with Pele at the height of the popularity of American soccer. Pele was nearing the end of his career too but didn't speak English and didn't have the cover boy model looks.
Beckham is overrated as a player but still will be one of the top, if not the top, players in the league. It will be huge for the league but eventually it will fail. If they bring 3-4 huge names in their prime they could succeed. As long as their bringin Brits over here, Wayne Rooney would be huge if signed by another team. To have a chance they'd have to sign Thierry Henry and Zidane as well and I don't think there's any chance of that happening.

Beckham is only 31 although it seems he's older. Ah, I stand corrected. Thanks dd! It still won't work. You could bring in Pele and every other big star that soccer has ever had and it still won't get Americans excited about soccer.

I predict he will be on RAW or SD at some point, even if just a cameo. Probably around the time they bring Burchill back to TV.

I just think they'll put him and his kids in the front row one day or something...he has money, but he's going to be all over the place promoting himself for the next year or so...why not RAW.

I hate to say this, but I just don't see this gamble paying off for MLS. They give THE LARGEST CONTRACT IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICAN SPORTS to a guy from England, in a sport that 90% of Americans don't pay any attention to.
If they continue to dish out big money to foreign players, who will come over and play in half empty stadiums, then I say the MLS will be a thing of the past within 3 years.
Call me a skeptic ..... or just tell me I have no clue what I'm talking about (which could very well be the case).

This is just a last ditch effort to get soccer over here in the US. It might work but probably won't but it is worth a try.

Matt - I knew there is a soccer league . How many teams etc . I haven't got a clue ? Or name any teams , I couldn't sorry . Swarm - I agree with him . Once I heard the news I said to Suzanne . How long before Vince has him on Raw or SD ? . England v Ireland match Becks & Regal v David Healy (who ? Leeds Utd & Northern Ireland striker) & Finlay . With scottish referee Roddy Piper . I am not 100% sure , I have never heard the Beckhams mention wrestling . But with all his kids surely they probably watch it . Maybe even Vince to sponsor one team now . Goodzilla - You are right about his contract . I don't blame him , but whoever is putting up the money for his wages . Dukedave - Becks will not now be the last ? . Clubs will look at Italy , France , Germany , Portugal & England at least . Any european country that can cover the games in USA (for PPV maybe in europe) . They need more european players to make it work . Thinking about it even Japan and Auz also . Did you hear Real Madrid boss saying "Becks has played his last game at Real Madrid . On them wages , is he bothered ?"

I heard Madrid may buy out the last six months of his contract...If that happens...Beckham can start for LA at the start of the season instead in August...If I was Beckham...I would sell cheap so I can start rather not play at all!...As is he was a bench player for Real!
