I think Detroit has the best shot at some of the bigger stars that'll be out there during the tradeline. People always talk about the Yankees and trading but it's been a couple of years since they've really been able to make trade deadline moves. Their farm system is totally bare and it's going to be hard for them to address their issues.
I think Detroit slows down in July. Reloads with John Smoltz and a couple of bats and then continue their tear through the league for the rest of the season.

I just hope the Yankees miss the playoffs. It has turned out to be a great race as the Red Sox are only 2 games behind the Yankees in the division and are tied with the Minnesota Twins at being just a 1/2 game back from the White Sox and the Wild Card spot. I also think the Red Sox have the best 1-2 punch in baseball with Ortiz and Ramirez. But the trade for Abreu (currently hitting .400 with the Yankees) has turned out great so far for them and they are expected to get both Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield back around September 1. Sheffield has even already ordered a glove to play First Base to accomodate Abreu being in Right Field which will allow the Yankeees to shift Giambi to DH and have both Bernie Williams and Melkey Cabrera come off the bench. The Yankees are also on the verge of getting back their starting Second Basemen Robinson Cano who was hitting .325 and was the leading vote getter among American League Second Basemen on the All Star ballot before getting injured earlier this summer. Although other teams in the race have better pitching, I think the Yankees have a good shot at making the playoffs once again.

I hate any New York team in any sport...And the Red Sox are not much better...I'm from Baltimore...I'm just hoping they can stay on top of Tampa Bay

I hate any New York team in any sport...And the Red Sox are not much better...I'm from Baltimore...I'm just hoping they can stay on top of Tampa Bay I hear ya man. Four years of school in Boston converted me into a Sox fan, but now that I'm living five blocks away from Camden Yards, it's like every time the Yankees or the Red Sox come to town, New Yorkers and Bostonians swarm the city as if it were their own ballpark. I love it as a Sox fan. I try to leave the city when the Yanks come to town though.
