That tom's inspiration for Thantos came from my avatar Thanos, The Mad Titan ? Knowing he's a Silver Surfer fan , I do. Their names are one letter off , they both are power hungry. He said the Gladiators were inspired by the Road Warriors.

I think Tom was asked this years ago at Galacticon and he said no. Not sure, but I can definitely see where the inspiration would come from.

You could also make the connection with Greek mythology and Thanatos, god of death. Either way -- comic books or Greek mythology -- Tom's done both as inspirations, intentional or not.
