Has anyone seen anything from the World Combat League?
Its a new style fighting league started by Chuck Norris with some interesting rules..they take points away for passivity...they take points away for impeding your opponent from executing a move...it is non-stop combat for 3 minute rounds...
It breaks down like a basketball game score with a half-time thrown..then the combatants come out after half-time and fight another 3 minute round against the same guy they fought earlier...unless there was a knockout...then there is a replacement fighter..
Interesting to watch...Pete Sprat from the UFC was on one of the teams..It is on the VS. network at 11:00 tonight. If you get a chance, check it out at least once..I won't say it is much better than a one-shot thing, but it is worth checking out for those who like combat.

Deathwish is so much better than Walker Texas Ranger. Anyway, a chuck norris ran fighting league? sounds interesting enough.

Eliath this reminds me of the old PKA with a few upgrades. If you like stand up striking you may want to look into watching some authentic Muay Thai Kickboxing. The difference between WCL and MT is in the clinch work...I just can't get into watching a stand up striking sport when such a fundamental element is taken out of the mix. K-1 may also be of interest to you...some tremendous fights over the years, a great history behind it...and it's fairly widely available. World Combat League Highlightstinyurl.com/3xkb95
LWPD (no clinching, no elbows, no ground fighting...but non-stop 'action')

Upon re-watching the video there's a wicked Superman Punch thrown by one of the woman fighters...absolutely perfect technique leading to a knock out!

Back in the mid 80's Jean Claude Van Dam fought in the European branch of the PKA (Professional Karate Association) and was a Champion in his weight class. K-1 started in 1993. It's based out of Japan but they've run shows throughout the world and have fighter representation on a global basis. There are divisions and tournaments broken down by world region...with a World Grand Prix Champion crowned annually in an end of year tournament. Here in the US K-1 has aired on ESPN 2 and PPV.

I saw the WCL. I like the ring design, but that's about it. It's nothing horrible.
