I just started to notice Chucks prefered position of knee-on-belly ground and pound. I thought it was just where he wound up when he finished but after ortiz 2, Im pretty sure its deliberate. Granted his sledgehammer-looping-strikes put his opponents on queer street first, I think its pretty impressive that he is able to position himself there that quickly. From what I can see it keeps him out of his opponents gaurd and frees his hands up to reign down quick and damaging blows. Anyone else notice this?

He's done that for quite a while now Double C. In his Hybrid Fighting Instructional Chuck mentioned the knee on stomach position as his preference when striking on the ground. It fits his style because worse case scenario if his opponent recovers defensively he'd rather be able to quickly 'get back to his feet' than spend time and energy working for a submission (which he doesn't excel at) or defending the mount or a static side control position (which is not his game). The knee on stomach gives him the best option for his style.
LWPD (the Iceman has 20 MMA victories under his belt but only one has ended in a submission...and that was way back in 1999...he's been strictly sprawl and brawl for a while now...with 'teeing off' being as far as he likes to go on the ground during his last few fights)
