International Fight League Wolfpack-Silverbacks Final To Air On Fox Sports Net New Year's Eve

NEW YORK, DECEMBER 26, 2006 – International Fight League, Inc. (OTC.BB: IFLI), the world’s first team-based professional mixed martial arts league, will give its fans another way to ring in the New Year, with an evening of exciting MMA action on Fox Sports Net. The IFL “World Team Championship” final between the Wolfpack, based in Portland and coached by Matt Lindland, and the Silverbacks, who train in the Quad Cities and are coached by Pat Miletich, will air on Fox Sports Net on Dec. 31 in most markets. The Wolfpack-Silverbacks matchup will be a tape delay of the “World Team Championship” that will take place Friday, Dec. 29 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

The coverage is the final part of FSN’s 10 hours of IFL World Team Championship coverage this fall. Broadcast times in several regions include:

Tonight's IFL championship line-up, and it will be in this order:

1) 205 pounds: Aaron Stark (Wolfpack) vs. Mike Ciesnolevicz (Silverbacks)
2) heavyweight: Devin Cole (Wolfpack) vs. Ben Rothwell (Silverbacks)
3) 155 pounds: Ryan Schultz (Wolfpack) vs. Bart Palaszewski (Silverbacks)
4) 185 pounds: Matt Horwich (Wolfpack) vs. Ryan McGivern (Silverbacks)
5) 170 pounds: Rory Markam (Wolfpack) vs. Chris Wilson (Silverbacks)

For tonight's main event, Carlos Newton came in at 184.75 pounds and Renzo Gracie at 184

Though I never saw it, I heard Newtons and Renzo's first match was awesome (especially if you like grappling). Renzo is a busy boy these days. From what I understand he has a fight with Frank Shamrock soon. Glad to see names like these back into the scene.

hope everyone got a chance to see this. was at the event live. generally good fights. the live reaction to Renzo getting the decison was very negative. I don't know what expectations people had for the fight but it was pretty much what I expected.

Haven't watched the FSN edit of it (still on my DVR) but Ryan Schultz of the Wolfpack was taken off on a stretcher. Pretty scary for a minute but I guess he is alright.

On another IFL note I was bummed to hear that Allan Goes had to pull out of his first fight of the 2007. I really think he's an exciting fighter.
