I love MMA, but Sylvia's fights are boring..he is a defensive fighter...a good one, but non-the-less, uneventful in any aspect. A simple observation of that nature can be made by even the most recreational of fight fans...don't need to be all testy over someone elses opinion.

Yeah, I actually have been fighting MMA type style awhile, starting with Asai Tang soo Do when I was 13 and actually getting belts and competing along the way, moving up to kempo fighting style for a bit and competing on a smaller level albeit a level non the less, and moving on to Capoeira ( the dance of war) in New York and some kickboxing and a little wrestling as competition. So I guess I am not a journalist (must be tough out there in combat) and No I DONT EAT STEAK!!!! I train very hard at what I do and have sacrificed faily, friends and love to compete. Thats why I get pissed. Good luck with your career and no hard feelings.

I hate when people say "Oh yeah, well I dont see you fighting/wrestling/singing/acting" when trying to refute someone's argument. People can be great admirers of something and have a deep knowledge of its workings and be able to critique these things without having participated in them. My taste in music and movies is great IMO, but I have no artistic talent at all haha.
I understand the reaction, though. What sort of competitions are you in, vansabu? Do you do submission grappling stuff?

Its more striking than anything but I have trained in a minimal amount of submissions, I mean I can submit like say the pizza man, or the slacker at the mall or my friends and family with a quickness or people I train with but I would get destroyed in a submission match with Karo "The Heat" or Kenny Florian or guys like that, not to mention the higher skilled submission specialists but I could outstrike say Caol Uno or maybe a smaller yet skilled guy opposed to a Vitor or a Lidell type competitor. I wish I would have taken it to the next level when I was younger rather than now when I am obligated to family and my transport business, but I still enjoy it because I am still oly 32 and can bang pretty well. Look at The Natural couture, he started pretty late in the UFC and now is a Hall of Famer who can still go if he wanted to. Thanks for asking. I really didnt like to be a jerk with that other guy, It is much easier from the outside looking in I guess. I am still a decent dude and Again I apologize to everyone.

I can submit like say the pizza man, or the slacker at the mall or my friends and family with a quickness When dealing with people who 'know nothing' it's almost all still like UFC 1. Very few people who aren't trained know what to do when on the ground...pull 'away from' the pain of joint locks...turn to their stomachs if they get hit...cross their ankles from back mount...can't sprawl off the clinch...etc. It really shows how far ahead of the curve the Gracies were when it came to creating a scientific form of martial art suited for 'real world' situations...against regular people who perform 'natural' reactions. That Mixed Martial Arts as a genre has evolved 'beyond' what the Gracies have taught us was only made possible because of the deep practicality of the foundation they laid...and from which we all still benefit.
LWPD (watch any real world one on one fight between non-MMA trained guys and you can literally see openings from a distance that could be capitalized upon with just a little GJJ circa 1994...scary but true)

*Bows* sorry for the problems as well. I was kinda shocked at first when it happened. I really wasn't looking to pick a fight. I never suggested Tim was a poor fighter, he fought conservatively. Hell I was impressed. It showed some depth. I was praying Jeff Monson was going to beat him, but in all honesty I didn't walk away from the fight bummed out.
As for being on the outside looking in, my dad did some wrestling in his earlier years and he explains to me alot of the familiars of mma (Take down and wrestling wise) you see in the sport. And I’m well aware that sort of thing is a huge pain to train for... now add striking and subs and I could imagine mma being a real head ache. (I showed him the ADCC bout between Tito and Hughes and said that seemed pretty much the same.)
I heard ADCC has subs but I don’t recall seeing any in that bout (I think maybe a failed choke). Any ways no hard feelings I hope you feel the same. I’m glad we have you in the MMA for Vansabu.

i think that the "You are not fighting this guy" argument has its merits, but just not on this forum. We all obviously care about the technique, proficeincy and the fighters themselves, as well as the action after the opening bell and the result. That sort of argument is more siuted against the fairweather fans and trolls. Here, even the people who watch MMA as a passing interest either do not post idiotic statements/ predictions/ opinions or they simply do not post.
That being said, I 'm glad we have the dust up settled, although during the group hug, someone goosed me. I think it may have been habs.
