Well, with Sunday's PPV coming up I decided to sim the tournament with my Masters of the Cage game. I just ran the Silva vs Cro Cop match to see how it might play out.
SILVA VS CRO COP ROUND 1 Showing tremendous respect for one another the two fighters came out cautiously. Wanderlei closed the distance firing off stiff jabs from close quarters. Cro Cop parried the blows but missed his mark with his counter shots. Silva seeming to gain confidence came in more aggressively landing a few well-placed jabs and leg kicks. Cro Cop responded in kind landing a jab of his own. Then as if in some silent agreement the two clashed head on letting the fists and feet fly. After a furious exchange both fighters backed off and nodded to each other. Wanderlei dove back in looking to catch Cro Cop off guard. Cro Cop exhibiting his excellent defense side stepped and landed a stiff counter right hand that backed Silva up. From there Cro Cop launched his leg up high and came crashing down with an axe kick towards Silva’s head. Silva, however recovered and knocked the kick aside and blasted the Croation back with a brutal series of hooks. As Cro Cop stumbled back Wanderlei charged in landing a crushing right hook that sent Cro Cop to one knee. Before Cro Cop could recover Wanderlei unloaded a blistering stream of punches and finished off the Croation with a brutal knee to the face. WINNER/ KO/ ROUND 1/ 3 MIN 45 SECS

I have a feeling that's about what the outcome will be. Silva just cannot let himself get kicked the way Yoshida did. As long as he does that, he should win.
I'm still picking Nogueira to win the whole thing.

Im on the "anyone but Barnett" team. pulling for Cro Cop That sounds suspiciously anti UFC. (I didn't want him to win either lol just saying). I didn't want Josh to go on to beat Fedor. I don't know why. It was a great card... I didn't like the outcomes but the fights were awesome.

One of the guys I watched the show with last night is a huge Silva mark. He's usually incredibly demostrative during a show, but as soon as Cro Cop swelled up his eye, he got real subdued. Once the KO was official, he seemed to think we were witnessing the end of Silva as a force of nature. Not so sure about that yet, but this certainly wasn't his finest moment. He needed to fight Cro Cop a little smarter than that wildman routine.
Anybody else want to see that Snake guy fight someone a little below the level of Shogun? I thought he looked pretty good.

Hes so full of himself and loves to muse and ish talk and whatnot after a fight... it just iritates me. I do not believe he beat Nogueira (hes just more viable to American fans ) Glad to see Cro Cop take it... Silva is an incredible fighter, but Mirko had his game locked down much tighter. He was acurate with his strikes and worked his ground and pound like Fedor (it was beautiful). I dont think there was a chance of Josh Barnett beating Fedor.

Im with Mark about Shoguns opponent. He looked pretty dangerous on his feet and had some amazing escapes from the bottom. BTW when the heck did Cro Cop develop his ground and pound like that? Those hammerfists and straight punches were fast and furious.

I think Cro COP just let go. It was the right thing to do and it paid off.
As for the Josh Nog comments.. look Nog is my favorite active fighter, I acept the decision. It was a close fight and it really could have gone either way. At the end i was hoping Nog won it, but when he didn't. I let it go. I'm not going to sit down with a pencil rewind the tape and try and ghetto score the card myself.

Was just watching the US broadcast of the fight and heard Trigg say Silva was 5 pounds heavier than Cro Cop in this fight. To me that makes his win even more impressive.
