Hey,
Here's an idea I was pondering and this is for whoever wants to respond between Kris, Mark or Tom?
I remember as a kid, reading books that had choices that the reader would could choose to determine what happened in the story.
What if say in a future set/storyline something like that could be used?
Say like in a future set at random like in 2125? or another series that comes out at some point, have a choice scenario for the promoters to choose to determine where the story goes. Maybe having a couple different endings thought of ahead of time based on what the choices would be? Something like that?
I just thought it would be a neat idea to get a promoter into the storyline of their favorite federation?
What do you guys think?
Ray

The death of Dreadnaught was somewhat like that, with each promoter having it happen in a different way. Is that along the lines of what you meant?

I was thinking more along the lines of the storyline itself, and not just one specific character Ray

I would be happy playing along with different choices angles .

First off, let me say I've thought a long time about this answer.
Secondly, I loved those Choose Your Own Adventure books!
Okay, here's the way I see it, at least from the perspective of the CPC going online exclusively in the fall. The way I understand your proposition, you'd like there to be different choices contained in the handbooks, as in "If you want Stigma to run in and save Cypher, turn to page 12. If you want Stigma to remain in the locker room and not help, turn to page 13." That's the way those books were set up, anyway.
It's a cool idea, but the problem in print form is that in order to accommodate everyone with a storyline that way, it would take possibly up to double the print pages to execute. And the printers will up their fees accordingly. So I'm not sure the consumer would want that cost passed on to them for a feature they may not even want to use.
Also, many people "choose their own adventures" anyway when they create their own feuds and stories (even characters) that don't go by the book. So in that sense, the game has always been a choose your own adventure story for those who want it to be.
Now, in online form, where there aren't really the same kinds of printing costs to speak of, as everything's just on screen, this idea has more possibilities. ("Click here to do X, click there to do Y.") But since I'm not one of the COTG Online crew, I can't comment on how that might be worked into the framework.
This is an interesting idea, and I don't want you to think I'm shooting it down entirely. I think it's got potential, but it has to be done in a way that it's not mandatory material for those who don't want it (i.e., in print handbook form). I just don't know that the majority of promoters would go for that. Maybe they would, I don't know.
Thinking outside the box is a cliché, but it's good to do. Thanks for getting my brain going!

yeah, actually in my own mind, I was thinking mostly of the on-line version. I thought it might be something that would be easy to incorporate down the line?!? And I wasn't sure if others would think it was a fun idea or would even want to do, hence why I was asking just to see how many would like it? It's true that most of us already make our own story lines with how the dice roll. But I do know that people also like being involved in the game itself (i.e. The Promoter every month) and this could be something similar to that by getting people involved in the game. cost can always be reduced, just have to "look outside the box" in order to achieve it as well. There are always different options to getting a job done. Thanks for the input, at least I have somebody "thinking" haha Ray

I like the idea Ray! I may be wrong when I say I think Mark went alittle too detailed (maybe he thought about it to much :-) can't blame a guy for that!) about what you were thinking when he said Stigma runs in to save etc. or maybe I am not thinking enough, but I think offspring was more on point or closer when he mentioned Naught? When I first read your thread I thought it was cool and I started thinking of maybe at some point a promotor vote of a group of choices of WHO should turn heel out of the 4 lets say.... OR who should retire out of the 3.... Or someone will be jumping to the CPC who will it be? And the promoter has 3 guys to choose from.... Am I close to the original thought? If so I think it is an AWESOME idea!

Oh, there's plenty of possibilities. I just threw out the run-in one because it was the first thing I thought of. And I'm guilty as charged of overanalyzing things. Ask my dear wife.
If I were more involved in the online production I'd be able to comment better on how feasible it would be in that format. In theory, seems plausible. But I won't presume to speak for Kris, BDS, and the others in assuming it's an easy and/or worthwhile thing to do. As always, if there's enough of a clamor for it from potential paying customers, I'd guess they'd at least look into it.
So...it's up to you, promoter!
