Hey Tom
Any idea what we will be doing for the night before Galacticon or is it to early to know?

I'm going to throw out an idea that I have been thinking about for the past few years. How about if we were to set up a session with a local independent wrestling group. Learn some basic moves and see what its like to be in a wrestling ring. Then maybe see a match between some of the conventioneers with some wrestling experience, and have dinner afterwards. May be a bit pricy, but would be very cool. Did a little research and it seems that the closest indy promotion is Empire State Wrestling: www.empirestatewrestling.comAnyone think this would be worth pursuing?

Great idea
They did something thing like that at Galactican where even Tom wrestled
I wish I was the one to get in the ring but health reasons prevent me but I could be a manager ;D
I would love to see it if possible

I see that the Jamestown Jammers are at home that night, so we could of course go back there (although they will be rained out like the only other time I was able to go to a Jammers game).
If there is enough interest in indy wrestling, we could see if they are doing a show that night, maybe even convincing the fed that they could do a show in Jamestown on Friday. Who knows? If there is any interest in that I could contact them. Could be fun.

That would definitely be something new. I like going to the Jammers game (although that really rainy time was my 1st Con and I was so bummed!).
But that could be cool depending on the ticket price. I know a lot of people spend a lot of $ just to get there and then the expense of the convention fees and games can add up, but I think it'd be worth looking in to.

I think that we should all get together and play COTG...whenever one of your wrestlers gets pinned, you have to take a shot...last wrestler (and man) standing wins... ;D

I'd prefer just an informal get together myself. It's so fricking hard to hear anyone at the Jammers game.

I am a Baseball fan but I would prefer a regular get together like a dinner or something. Its better that way since most people talk the whole game but its hard to hear them sometimes

I think that will have to be for after the regular festivities though. Hey Tommy, is Cam old enough for shots yet? I'm definately cool with just doing a dinner thing, just thought I'd throw some ideas out there for something different.

When we used to get together at the hotel (can't remember which one) that was more of a social event so maybe we should look into doing that again.

I am all for doing the wrestling thing...
Then again I am all for the Jammers Game (I need a new Jammers Hat)...
Then again I am all for a sit down dinner...
Then again I could go for the Hotel Social...
Then again i am sure it would be quite an event at the CotG "shot" tournament...talk about a lightweight and you are talking about me...I can handle a Mike's Hard Cranberry or two though...no mas!
Really no help was I...But as was mentioned $$ should be taken into consideration!

If I make it, I would vote for the wrestling training section! I might even get in the ring myself!!!!!!!!

So does that mean that dressing up as Gladiators and randomly pillagjng "the inferior races of Jamestown" would be frowned uppon?

Not be me as long as I "pillage" enough money to pay for the trip to Jamestown, a 2006 Dodge Vyper, and a big screen TV.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open. I've enjoyed the social gatherings at the Holiday Inn lounge...it seems like we had some nice conversations that are hard to have during the busy activities on Saturday and Sunday at the con.
An advantage this year, I believe, is that our special guest is artist Scott Rosema. Another special guest is PROMOTER MADNESS. Let's face it, the Lottery is going to take a lot of time and be a highlight of the weekend.
We'll be busy as always once the con starts, so I tend to enjoy quiet Fridays where we can meet and talk. A Jammers game or an evening at the Holiday Inn is fine with me with a slight preference for the Holiday Inn.

The Holiday Inn is great because people just arrive whenever they get there and then people are just hanging out and relaxing!
The activities in the past have been great, too, but I enjoyed the Inn the best.

I'm definitely all for the Inn. Not only does the weather not matter, but also people can meet and greet and have a pleasant conversation while able to actually hear each other.

The Holiday Inn is great, too because when we go to the Jammers game, it's a great time. But when it's over people go their separate ways (not to sound like Journey or anything ;D).
When we're at the Inn, people can stay until closing at like 2:00am and not have find another gathering spot. People can come and go as they please.
Just another take on this.

I'm throwing my support behind the Holiday Inn as well. Decent food and bar, plus a pool table and darts (although no one ever wants to play against me for some reason). Definately my kind of place and people can just come and go as they please. Tom, what do you say we set it in stone? Any need to call them to reserve tables in the past?
