Tom or Mark, I am back playing COG after a 4 1/2 year absence. Actually I bought Legends and I have been enjoying it but COG was a magnet. I have the sets up to 2110 and I have had a nice mixed league, some nostaglia and others that I hadn't played yet. I had stopped when I lost my wife and I think you remember it happening, at least I told you. The fans of your boards have been very supportive and helpful and I respect each and every one. All of the contributors have made this a great great game.
Here is my question. I want to move along and I think it more logical to jump several years. What would you suggest? Someone said 2019 had a package to start a new Federation. Should I take everything from 2019 up til now and will that allow me to feel as though I haven't missed out because it would be a completely new Fed?
Thank you for your time and for the many years you have given to COG.

You can start at 2119, A New Beginning. Get the collector's pack and you will have all the cards needed to start the GWF. 2120 is the current game year so you would only have two sets to buy and catch up with.
Or, go all the way back to 2074 with GWF Early Classics. If you also pick up all the classic editions you will be set to start at 2074 and play each year up to 2087, which was the "official" first year of the GWF (with Thantos, Wolf, Star Warrior, etc.), the original game edition.

Hi Frank. Glad to see you're back with us. I do remember hearing about the loss of your wife, I'm not sure where or when, but I don't know if I had a way to contact you about it to express my sympathies.
As for your question, I think Ty has the best approach. It all depends on whether you want to be current with most other players (in which case New Beginning 2119 is the way to go), or if you want to relive some glory days and restart in 2074 with the Classics sets. Either way, you'll have a solid foundation for playing. Personally, I'd go with 2119, as the concepts are more fun and more advanced by this point in the game's evolution.
Happy to see COTG's elder statesman in the fold once more!

Always nice to hear from you, Frank. I wish we had more time to talk when we met briefly at GalactiCon some years ago. I'm playing 2120 and having a great time.
