I agree as well.
Unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to get out anytime soon. That government we've installed over there from what I hear is pretty weak. And if we leave the country too soon it would probably completely break down and Iraq would be plunged into all out civil war.
I honestly doubt we've really done anything good over there From what I see it looks like we've caused more trouble in the Middle East.
I'm just ticked that some of us believe it is our duty to impose our own way of life onto other countries. Never seems to turn out very well. We went in there under false pretenses, and it's a wonder to me why Bush hasn't at least had articles of impeachment brought up on him. They impeached Nixon for covering up a robbery and they tried to impeach Clinton for lying about a BJ. But Bush lies about WOMD, sends our own out to die, and nothing..?

Good points, Brandon.
I'm a liberal who was opposed to us going over to Iraq in the first place, but now that we're over there, I think we have a responsibility to stay there until the job truly is done. When 50 people can all get kidnapped and held hostage at one time, I think that's a good sign that things in Iraq are still too chaotic for American troops to leave.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very disturbed by the fact that we have now had as many casualties in Iraq as we did on 9/11 (although I want to be careful to make that connection, because Saddam and Iraq and 9/11 have NO connection whatsoever.) But if we pull out now, and the situation stays as bad in Iraq as it is right now, then we'll have to start asking ourselves, why did we go over there and suffer so many losses, when the situation was actually more stable under Saddam's regime?
and that's not a good question to ask.

and it's a wonder to me why Bush hasn't at least had articles of impeachment brought up on him. Simple. Bush didn't lie about wmds despite what the Bush hating left would like for us to believe. What he said about wmds was based on the same intelligence that both democrat and republican alike agreed to being accurate.

I was in a bar when this was announced (as I have been for other historical moments for some reason). Lots of celebratory cuss words and drink raising going on. It was pretty cool.

Even the left's darling President Clinton's own administration felt that Saddam was hiding something. Was the intelligence faulty? Yea, it obviously was. Could another country(Syria) have moved and stored WMD caches? Probably not, BUT it's not out of the realm of possiblity.

I agree get the troops out . Don't forget us brits are out there to , getting blown up everyday . Saddam's death will not change anything in my opinion . Who can you fight evil , that is willing to sacrifice (die) themselves for terror ? .

It's very sad over there from all the reports I've read. The U.S. very much underestimated how much man power it would take to stablize that region.
I really don't think there will ever be peace there. They have been fighting since the dawn of time and I don't think it will ever end. And basically over religious beliefs. Very sad.
But I am glad to see Saddam go. This guy was one of the worst human beings who has ever lived.

my goodness.well hussain had nothing to do with 9/11 Bush wanted to do something his daddy didnt-kill hussain.the problem is Bush sr. listined to his Generals."if we kill hussain we will be here for 20 years"fast forward till present day.um why do you think all the generals keep switching out?because they where fired for telling Bush jr. "if we keep doing this we'll be here for 20 years lets pull out while we can"
ie,im an ex-combat arms army guy and my wife is in the army.as much as i hate Bush jr. logic.we have reached the point that we can NOT leave now.our boys and girls will get eaten alive tring to pull out.and look what WE have started.....an civil war.that would not be the american thing to do.only if the people of Iraq,Iran, syria, kawat egypt Isreal and the rest of the middle east asked us to leave and the UN say get out know should we exit the SANDBOX.
BUT WE KNOW THATS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.we are there for the long run until we get an presaent MAN enof to say i was wrong.sorry for the trouble i did not mean to start Veitnam 2. we are there for the long run boys and girls and i dont like it no more than you.if somebody is glad that something bad happens to you dont mean to go and start an fight you may not when.thats why we are over there thats the facts.Hussain was happy about 9/11 Bush got his veitnam dodging pantys in an knot and sends kids to do what his coward knickers was afraid to do .....fight an unwinable war.
now thats an slam

Levertis, to be honest I really didn't understand what you were saying in the last paragraph.
However, I do hear you on the first two paragraphs and agree.
So what are the odds of having a liberal, a conservative, and an ex-combat military man all agreeing on the same thing as far as policy in Iraq goes?
