As some of you know, I've been slaving away on a Master's Degree in education, doing and internship and working as a guest teacher for the past two years. This week, the fruits of my labor finally blossomed
1) I have officially graduated from Aurora University with a 4.0 GPA throughout the entire process. All that's left is the ceremony on May 6th.
2) This morning, I was offered a full-time position at one of the most respected high schools in the entire state of Illinois.
3) I have been asked to stay on at my current school district for the remainder of the year as a paid guest teacher. Anyone who has obtained a teaching certificate knows there is a 16 week student-teaching internship that you must complete -without pay- before getting certification. It's nice to be back amongst the regular paycheck earners again.
This is by no means as big (or as important) an accomplishment as my many friends here who have become parents, husbands and/or wives. However, if you all knew what I've accomplished and sacrificed to get here -and how impossible this all seemed only a few short years ago - you'd understand my joy and satisfaction.

Congrats. I felt great (and relieved) when I got my master's in 04. Little did I know I'd be back taking classes a year later.....

Congrats. man! I know how damned relieved I felt when the MS in Education was done.
My Graduation ceremony was on Dec 17. '03, the same day as the opening of Return of the King. Guess what my present was?
Welcome "officially" to the club!

Matt's avatar's gonna give me seizures.
ANYWAY...
I disagree, Ring...having a kid isn't a gigantic accomplishment (most of the time)...it's raising a good one that you can be proud of, but I see what you mean.
This is a very real, very huge accomplishment, and I am very happy for you and very proud of you.
Good job.

GREAT JOB BUDDY! I know what a great feeling it is ... and especially so since you've already got a KILLER job lined up! You've been one of the promoters that has influenced me and encouraged me to keep rolling the dice, and I wanted to thank you for sharing in the madness!

Congrats. I think you should be very proud, getting a solid education and finding a spot in your chosen career is HUGE man. It's something that most people will sadly never achieve. Keep up your hard work.

Congrats Rings! You deserve it! Have fun celebrating, and good luck with the new jobby-job! It must feel great. And believe me, I know all about the accomplishing, sacrifice, and hopelessness at times! I've been going on-again off-again for 9 YEARS!!! And that's only for a Bachelor's!!! But one more year to go! Thanks for the inspiration!!! May 2007, let the keg-tapping ceremony begin!!!

Congrats Ring.
As a fellow teacher, I know how hard it is to go for so long without being paid.
And getting a 4.0 in the process is an amazing feat!

Congrats man. That is awesome. It is even cooler that you were offered a job right out of college. My mom recently went back to school and got her teaching degree and so far she has only been getting subbing jobs so that is a real accomplishment for you. I hope when I finish school I will get a great job straight out of school. good job
