Just wanted to let everyone know I am back. Even thought I haven't posted in a long time, I have still been playing the game. I have been very busy. Bought a house, got shot and stabbed, broke an ankle (which is why I am laying in bed typing on my laptop right now) and my wife is pregnant with out second child. So, as you can see, its been a long 6 months or so. I hope to get caught up soon. I am still in 2119, but dont plan on "shotgunning" it to get caught up. If you feel like dropping me a line, please do. I would really like to get chatting up with old and new friends. Thanks...J

Damn J. Glad to hear that you are OK. Are you still in D.C.?
'Cause it sounds like maybe you moved to Detroit! ( no offense, just trying to make light of a serious situation)

Gatekeeper, thanks for replying. I am currently a Police Officer in Henrico County, VA (just north of Richmond). As you can see, we are a busy department. When I got out of the Army, I moved down south. My wife wanted to stay on the east coast (we are both from CA). Even though I have had some physical pain since taking this job, I do love it. Its challenging.

Good to hear that you're okay.
Just out of curiosity, and I know this is probably a no duh question based on what you've said, did this happen in the line of duty? Reason I ask is I am also a police officer and have a special understanding of the stress involved in the job. I'm hoping to make it through this career without anything like that happening, although it's been close a couple of times so far. And I live in an area nothing at all like Richmond, though I do have Savannah, GA barely a 45 minute drive from the city where I work. Best of luck and quick healing.
Peace.

Trav,
Thanks for asking. I was shot on a traffic stop. It was a .38 that entered and exited my left shoulder. No matter how much officer survival skills you learn, you really can be an easy target. Luckily, my "spidey sense" kicked in and felt something was wrong even before I stopped the car, so I called for another unit before I made the stop. When I made the stop, the kid just pointed the gun out the window before I got up there and shot. The car was stolen, crack and a few guns in the car. Kid (17) ended up committing suicide before going to trial.
And funny story on the broken ankle. We had our first ice storm this far south (its hard to actually write that. Even though I am originally from CA, I could never identify myself as a southern) about two weeks ago. This lady had fallen in her driveway on some ice and broke her ankle in two places. I dont mind seeing my own blood, but it always bothers me to see someone elses. Anyways, I need to move her so the emergency vehicles could get to her, so I picked her up. I started to walk with her and she squirmed in my arms, causing me to lose balance and drop not only my body weight, but hers as well on my ankle, which got pinned underneath me. I go for surgery a week from today to put in a pin. Doctor has me on Oxycotton (sp?) so I am feeling alright right about now.
I hope with this time off (not going to go back to work until the New Year and only then to a desk job for a month or two) that I will finally get caught up with everyone. Plus, I cannot wait to start aCe, which I have yet to do. I AM A HUGE PAINMASTER MARK! Everyone take care and thanks for the emails.

It's very good to hear that you didn't become a statistic. Far too many of us do every year, both law enforcement and otherwise. Good thing for that "spidey sense" . Both injuries protecting and serving and you kept a good outlook, that's inspiring. And your unfortunate incident really shows that there is no such thing as a routine stop. Have a good Holiday season and lots of luck. Be safe. And congrats to you and your wife in advance on the second child. Peace. ;D ~Trav
