Tonight was a little more hectic than I cared for. There was a two-alarm blaze at my apartment complex that destroyed lots of units. I am ok and so is my apartment-it occurred in another building within my complex. But I still was overly cautious and packed lots of things (including my Legends and COTG stuff) into my truck in case the fire threatened to spread. It was the top story tonight on the local Las Vegas news- according to which the flames were actually 30 feet high. Thankfully, there were apparently no casualties but about a dozen families who were my immediate neighbors are homeless now. Not a good thing to happen during Thanksgiving weekend. Fire investigators believe the fire started on the roof- and there has been some roofing work done there this week from what I've been told by another resident. If I never again have to experience another fire this close to my home, it will be way too soon.

It's great that you're okay!!
I hope those left without homes quickly find a place to stay, and I'm happy that no one was hurt.

Glad to see you're safe (and have priorities...saving your COTG stuff Stephen!!). jk
Let's hope those families do OK, especially during the Holiday season!

Thankfully things here have somewhat settled down. I was told that 8 units in my complex were completely engulfed and a total of 20 were damaged to the extent that they are now uninhabitable. The fire investigator on the televised news said the blaze apparently started on the roof which is where construction was recently performed. I was also told that the Red Cross worked hard to find shelter for my displaced neighbors-it is indeed my understanding that all of them are physically ok. One guy who lives in my complex told me that one woman actually ran inside her apartment after the fire began to save her cat and she emerged safe and clutching her frightened pet. I can still smell smoke but it is not as strong as last night and the chaos has really subsided. I am completely ok as my place was spared but I was really concerned and quickly started packing things up once another resident here told me erroneously that the flames were starting to spread further than they apparently actually did. I hope nobody I know ever has to suffer from a fire like this one.

Glad to here your okay and that no one was hurt in the fire. It really sucks, especially during a holiday season to have things like this happen. Hope the victims of the fire are able to recover and get on with their lives. Losing everything or near to everything in a fire is devastating.
