October 16th.

WWE Hall of Famer Bret "Hitman" Hart has completed writing his latest book. Due out on October 16th, the book is titled "Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling". Bret recently spoke to members of the book industry media and had some interesting comments about his fellow wrestlers and their attempts at writing. Bret said, "All wrestling books so far other than Mick Foley's have been crap."
Bret considers himself one of the best pro wrestlers of all time because he treated wrestling as an artform. He said Hulk Hogan is an entertainer, not really a wrestler. Bret is very excited about the book's release but is also nervous about how non-wrestling fans will receive it. The 400 page book is being published by Random House Canada.

Batista hasn't been around long enough to write a book...WWE pushing all their guys to book deals is ridiculous.not likely gonna spend my hard earned cash on a book by Batista...
Bret's, I'll be getting it.

He's also a strong writer who's a stickler for details 'as he seems them'...and he has no qualms about passionately expressing his point of view. Sight unseen I look forward to reading his book.

I think Bret may be a bit biased about his book. I have a feeling that he will portray himself greater then any other wrestler alive. I think the stories will be great and intresting but none the less very bias. I was Hart trained and talked to a few of the family including Stu who was a big fan of Gotch and Hackenschmidt. And most of the family thinks that the sun does indeed shine out of Bret's ass. Don't get me wrong I will pick up the book but this is just my prediction.

So he's finally finished it. I heard he's been working on the book for years. Still, it should be a must for any wrestling fan to hear Bret's view on his carear.

Back in the 90s, I really enjoyed Bret Hart's weekly column in the Calgary Sun. He is a very talented writer, and along with his illustrious career, should make for a very entertaining read - biased or not.

From what I understand, the release date for this book in the United States got pushed back to early 2008 but it is now available in Canada.

This was the best self written account on a pro wres career that I have ever read. An inside look on what it was like to grow up in a famous pro wres family, slowly ascend to stardom during the miraculous changes of the 80's cable boom, develop into a headliner in the early 90's...and everything that would come after that.
Whether one agrees with Bret's theories and interpretations his views are very well defined and come from the heart. BH lived an incredible life of highs and lows...and doesn't hold back...even on himself. The pitfalls. The addictions. The deaths of peers and even family members.
What helps to set this book apart is that it is written as a close to his career. There are no bridges that can't be burned or issues that can't be discussed due to who is publishing it. There is no such thing as an 'unbiased' or 'objective' human perspective. It doesn't exist. Bret delivers a 'comprehensive' account of his life and career...and in that there is gold.

I am about halfway through the Bret Hart book and LWPD is right Bret doesn't hold back on anything from his drug use to the dysfunctional family. I find the insight on Smith intresting. Smith trained me for free and Bret said that Smith could have been great but his heart wasen't into it. I did know Smith was a bit of a con man but he never tried to con any of the students and he had some great stories. Just ask Tom or Sam Luptak.

Both Bret Hart's and Chris Jericho's books were the best written Wrestling Biographies to date. Bret's pull no punches approach is what an Autobiography should be. I honestly couldn't put the book down (until I hit 40 pages reprinted). Once I switched copies it was all I did.

I just found out Bret is coming to Cambridge for a promo tour, I will Mark out and get him to sign my book but I will also try and talk him into signing with the game. I tried with Flair but he said no, Bret will most likely do the same but one can always try.
